My 5 French favorites
N. and I went to Paris. Our kind of citytripping: leaving without a plan but not without high expectations. A few days before our departure, we were lucky to find a fantastic AirBnB. Without knowing, this flat was based in a neighborhood with hotspots popping up while you’re walking around. Read about my 5 French favorites.
While walking around in our neighborhood, we discovered Le 975, a rookie in restaurant world. With their baseline “Bien manger, bien boire, bien vivre”, they practically say it all. This high-class bistro is a must do when you want to discover some good food. In the kitchen, Taiki plays with fresh and seasonal products. In the dining room, Mahieu helps you out choosing the perfect wine. At 975, the menu is rewritten each day according to the offerings of the sea, the goodwill of the earth and the chef’s mood.

Merci is a shop that works like a magazine. The founders realized that Paris lacked a place that brought together the best of fashion, design, household good and food. So that’s what they did, without choosing between traditional or modern, local or international. At Merci, you can find everything under one beautiful roof, in the heart of the historic Haut-Marais district. A must visit!

It doesn’t have to be 22° and super sunny before les Parisiens can enjoy there coffee outside. And that’s what I like a lot about Paris. It’s always terrace time. Can we introduce this in Belgium, s’il vous plaît?
If I would have had a to-do list for this weekend, Papier Tigre would certainly be on top of it! This shop, based in central Paris, is heaven on earth for paper lovers like me. The owners offer lovely French and Japanese paper products to make you daily routine more pleasant.

The last thing I want to take home is l’Octopussy, a cozy bar at the corner of our street. We bumped into this hotspot when we just parked the car (we could really use some drinks after folding N’s car in this small French garage!). The owner of the bar, a former banker, opened this funky café not so long ago, but we are glad he did!
